Meaning of Worship ( Worship )

The word " worship " comes from the Arabic language , which has the same root with the Hebrew " abodah " which means " serve " . So worship means to serve God . Sometimes we also adopted the word " worship " ( Sanskrit ), which means worship to God ( worship ) .

For the church , worship is meeting people with God to celebrate the act of remembering the savior of God in Christ's life and work . The word " commemorate " here in the sense of open or dig relive our memories of events that never happened in the past.

But " commemorate " presuppose actualization right to attend or to view the events that have happened in the past to the natural back nowadays. Events in the actualization of the religious right is the death and resurrection of Jesus . Although it has happened in the past , but the death and resurrection of Christ is the current in the present. Because when people actualize the death and resurrection of Christ , God delights in attendance.

So worship is an expression of gratitude or answer people in the work of salvation in Christ . Worship is not disabled people to acquire or achieve salvation , but as the answers to the security of the people whom God hath given .

Worship as an encounter with God's people is not due to human initiative, but the initiative of God. God's calling and the people came. Therefore, worship as a meeting should take place dialogue (two-way), not monologues (one-way).

God wants dialogue with people, not only through the servants, but also personally. Because of this, people have to build relationships and talk to God both individually and together.

Briefly unsettled the main worship of God's people on Sunday at a church building or other buildings specified. Because Sunday is the first day and once a day of victory, where people remember to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is expressed in the preaching of the Word and sacrament ministry.

Quote of Worship - Stephen Charnock
" We May be Truly said to worship God, though we lack perfection; but we cannot be said to worship Him if we lack sincerity"
